We are delighted to report that one of DWS’s long-standing friends has completed the Challenge 2012 cycle race. Roberto Ligugnana, former owner of International PBI in Italy, took part in the Relay Madison Race for the over 70s … yes, that’s right, Roberto is over 70 years of age. However, age being no barrier to this cyclist, his average speed during the 100km (400 lap) event was 35.7km per hour and he finished in 2 hours, 47 minutes and 49 seconds. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a fantastic achievement.
Some of Roberto’s colleagues on the ‘Old Men Committee’ were, however, somewhat scathing in their acknowledgement of Roberto’s achievement making comments such as the following (paraphrased due to translation from Italian):
“Why expend the energy travelling 100kms in 2 hours and 47 minutes when you could do it quicker in a Fiat 500?”
“Considering the American people are not familir with the kilometre, I suggest you repeat the performance over 100 miles!”
We just say: well done Roberto from all at Don Whitley Scientific!
